It seems a lot of controversy surrounding a new ABC-TV Cougar Town. Courteney Cox stars as a clumsy, neurotic, unfiltered, insecure, desperate woman trying to recover the folly of her 20's post-divorce. The problem is, they never had it's 20th She was busy being pregnant and then later raised the offspring.
Their characterization flies in the face, as is a true Cougar woman, so much so that one wonders if she acts this way at home. Afterall, she is a Cougar in real life and is married to a man several years younger than she.
I have heard many women complain of Cougar on my website, "This is not who we are, as Cougars, what is wrong with this picture?"
What is wrong, the media, which in turn has led to the brass ring of ratings and grabbed sold out a demographic of women and she painted with the broad brush stroke of desperate, horny, older women who are willing to jump anything with a pulse.
Nothing could remove the father from the truth.True Cougar discriminate against women and selective. They will not jump just because some young man she meets on a website. There are many more young people to choose from those. Cougars can be there to pick of the litter.
Although there are some women who dress inappropriately will be hanging out in bars and drink up wine and take home the younger men for casual sex. From my perspective, these women have psychological problems themselves, justify a diagnosispossible medication and years of psychotherapy. Women who regularly in casual, indiscriminate sex involved is probably not so when they were younger. This is not part of being a Cougar. It is part of an illness diagnosed as
Bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and the like.
For over a year since I made this dynamic part of my own psychological research and written many articles about it. The minority of the Cougar women are sensationalizedhunt in a false majority than boys to wear leopard-print, desperate, horny, aging floozy. In reality, the majority of the Cougar women, mothers, aunts, CEOs, nurses, computer programmers, advertising executives, office managers, lawyers, doctors, mothers stay at home, and would no longer function as the Cougar Town women in public than it raise your hand for a root canal without anesthesia volunteers.
What is the stereotype of the Cougar women that they act tosimilar to the male idiots women try to avoid at all costs. Grabbing butts men in bars, throw their legs over the shoulder of a man in public to show their "flexibility" and acting out as a junior high school girl is not, why are drawn younger men, older women. Do not treat men as sex objects in an effort to "equal" to men who treat women like sex objects to increase so long to have our bar. It lowers it to the same level of base behavior that we abhor.
Younger peopleExperiences of older women know that this is not true Cougar behavior and in no punches, they let me know how disgusted ... yes, ... They are outraged that this is the way Cougars will be presented by the media. There are all women a bad label and makes women who are over the fence into a Cougar of the opinion that this is cliche, how they must behave in order to fit the profile.
I see women in public "try" to be a Cougar. It is obvious that they are trying because they do notTake look comfortable in the (animal print) skin them. Some of them even try to mute the level of the young men by trendy, hip and speak the same jargon, rather than the man on his game and raise it at their level. It does not look good on them and it does not work.
A young man who is really sincere about meeting and dating Cougar women do this because older women are not like the twenty somethings, he is used to cover. These men are boredGirls who play games just to talk himself / hair / make-up and moan and have no perspective on life. A true Cougar woman embodies years of self-development, learning, perspective, wisdom, and all the things that we need to bring a woman of any age are well rounded.
What about Cougar women is wrong if they are trying to (or down, to live) the stereotype of the media. These are not the women who know who they are. These women are Cox's character, who struggles with its identity andtry has on another, to see if they can somehow feel comfortable playing a role. This is not an option for women's empowerment.
