By saying that a"Friend makes me dinner," adds a nice little touch. This adds curiosity and they will obviously assume it is a female. This is really makes you look good, plus your time is valuable, because the call first ended.
Once you set up the meeting / date, you never loud noisy bars or nightclubs. Always make / take your data on quiet bars or lounges. Rule of thumb that other guys can do is move away and whisk your date. That gave me more than I care to admit to happen.
